With the remote working trend showing no signs of abating, an increasing number of business travelers are looking to combine business with a little luxury and leisure.
Many European countries, including Portugal, Spain, and Greece, have begun to offer digital nomad visas.
However, if you plan to spend an extended vacation or a few months away from home, selecting a destination that meets your needs is critical.
Fortunately, travel goods company Carl Friedrik has compiled a list of the best European cities for “leisure.”
Using data from Airbnb, TripAdvisor, and other sources, the company examined coworking space ratings, luxury accommodation options, leisure activities, average WiFi quality, and the Safety Index Score for each city.
Barcelona is the best city for coworking spaces
Coworking spaces are ideal if you want to change up your working environment or if your current location does not provide enough space.
According to Carl Friedrik’s report, Barcelona, one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations, ranked first in terms of coworking space quality.
Lisbon is the best luxury leisure city
Portugal’s capital ranked first for a city that combines business and leisure.
According to Carl Friedrik’s report, more than 90% of restaurants were rated four stars or higher, which is great news for gourmet travelers looking to try a caldeirada fish stew or rice-based arroz de marisco.
Lisbon has 53 coworking spaces, all of which rank highly in the ranking and provide excellent opportunities for working outside of the hotel room.
Nearly 60% of the city’s spas and wellness centers are also rated four stars, so relaxing after work is easy to come by.
Copenhagen is the top destination for strong WiFi
Despite not making the overall top ten, Copenhagen was the highest-rated European city for a good WiFi connection.
The Danish capital is also frequently ranked among the world’s safest cities.
Rome provides the best luxury accommodation and food
If you prefer leisure to business, Italy’s capital entices with high-quality accommodations and delectable cuisine.
There are many Airbnb Plus listings in Rome with WiFi for an average price of $226. This year has also seen the opening of several new luxury hotels in the city.
The Italian capital topped the list in terms of cuisine, with an estimated 11,306 restaurants, 99 percent of which were rated four stars or higher.
A bowl of carbonara pasta or a pinsa, a Roman version of pizza, are excellent after-work treats.
Krakow is the best city to visit for landmarks and viewpoints
Consider spending time in Krakow if sightseeing is how you unwind after a long day at work.
As the destination with the best landmarks and viewpoints, the Polish city took first place.
