Lil Keed’s cause of death has been revealed nearly eight months after his tragic death.
The YSL rapper died in May at the age of 24 after being admitted to the hospital for stomach and back pain.
Keed died of natural causes due to eosinophilia, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, PEOPLE confirms.
Eosinophilia is a type of disease-fighting white blood cell caused by a parasitic infection, an allergic reaction, or cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic. According to the autopsy report, it is unknown what caused Keed’s condition. On May 13, he had a seizure and was admitted to the hospital; he died later that day.
“He had been sick in bed for four days with complaints of stomach and back pains,” according to the report. “His brother observed the decedent’s jaundiced eyes and drove him to the hospital in a private vehicle.”
In 2018, Keed, born Rahqid Render, signed with Young Thug’s YSL Records. The XXL Freshman rose to prominence with a string of mixtapes that included Trapped on Cleveland, Slime Avenue, Trapped on Cleveland 2, and Keed Talk to ‘Em, which yielded the hit “Nameless.”
“My goal and my intentions for my future? “I want to be a megastar,” Keed told XXL once. “I don’t want to be a celebrity. “I aspire to be a megastar.”
Drake, Quavo, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Yachty, and his brother Lil Gotit all paid tribute to him after his death.
“Can’t believe I saw you die today bro, I cried all my tears,” Gotit captioned a photo of himself with his late brother. “I know what you want me to do: go hard for Mama, Daddy, Our Brothers Naychur, and Whiteboy.”
