Nollywood Mourns as Ngozi Ezeonu Pays Tribute to Late Colleague Nkechi Nweje
Veteran actress Ngozi Ezeonu has shared her heartbreak over the passing of her colleague, Nkechi Nweje.
The news of Nkechi’s passing was confirmed by actor Stanley Ontop, who revealed she succumbed to a brief illness.
Taking to Instagram on March 25, 2026, Ezeonu expressed shock, admitting she had no idea Nkechi had been unwell. Describing her as one of the kindest people she had met in the industry, she wrote:
“It’s hard to believe you’re gone, ezigbo nwanyi Onicha. I never knew you were ill. I’ll never see your ever-smiling face again. Nkechi, you were one of the nicest people I met in Nollywood. This is a huge loss. Go well, my beautiful sister.”

Meanwhile, veteran actor Jide Kosoko has opened up about the challenges of sustaining wealth in Nollywood.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the 71-year-old actor shared that despite six decades in the industry, he hasn’t achieved financial success by Nigerian standards.
Kosoko pointed to piracy as a major issue, stressing that it has deeply affected the industry and called for stricter penalties against those who profit from other people’s hard work.
Having started his career in 1964 as a child actor in Makanjuola, Kosoko has since starred in hundreds of Yoruba and English-language films.
