Tinubu Holds High-Level Economic Briefing at the Presidential Villa
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with key figures responsible for steering the nation’s economy.
In attendance were Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; and Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas). Also present were the Central Bank Governor and the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji.
While no official details were released about the discussions, a presidency insider described it as a routine session — part of ongoing efforts to keep the President informed about the state of the economy and various policy implementations.
Each official reportedly arrived separately, reflecting the seriousness and confidentiality of the meeting.
The briefing comes amid preparations for the rollout of four newly signed tax laws, expected to take effect in January 2026. FIRS boss Adedeji is believed to have updated the President on strategies for ensuring a smooth implementation of these laws.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank is said to have provided insights on both monetary and fiscal matters, while the Finance and Budget Ministers gave an overview of the broader economic outlook.
As challenges continue to shape the nation’s financial landscape, these strategic conversations signal the administration’s intent to stay proactive and hands-on.
