Tinubu has strong words for those behind the kidnapping of children, branding them as cowards who shy away from confronting Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
During a Ramadan dinner with members of the Federal Judiciary, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the need to treat kidnappers as terrorists and condemned their despicable actions across the nation.
Addressing the gathering, including Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Tinubu reiterated the government’s commitment to combat banditry and restore peace.
He criticized the cowardice of kidnappers who target vulnerable victims like school children instead of facing military might head-on, stating, “We must treat kidnappers as terrorists. They are cowardly… They look for soft targets… We must treat them equally as terrorists to get rid of them.”
On the issue of judicial officers’ salaries, Tinubu promised ongoing reforms to enhance their welfare and working conditions, acknowledging the judiciary’s vital role in upholding justice.
Expressing gratitude to the judiciary for its dedicated service, Tinubu emphasized the importance of mutual support in advancing Nigeria’s progress.
In response, CJN Ariwoola praised Tinubu’s commitment to judicial reforms and expressed blessings for his administration’s success.
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, thanked the President for advancing the executive bill aimed at addressing long-standing issues with judges’ salaries. He commended Tinubu’s courage and determination in pushing for significant salary increases for judges.
Tinubu’s leadership and dedication to judicial reform and security resonate strongly, promising a brighter future for Nigeria.
