President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2024 Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly (NASS) soon.
Addressing a joint sitting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, the President hinted at the impending presentation. “I submitted the last budget to you,” he said, noting the swift passage of the previous budget. “We are walking the talk. I will soon bring the Year 2024 (Supplementary) Appropriation Bill. That is just for your information.”
In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed appreciation, stating, “Thank you, Mr President, we will be expecting the Supplementary Appropriation Bill of 2024 as soon as possible.”
During the joint sitting, coinciding with the first anniversary of the Tinubu administration, the President confirmed ‘Nigeria, we hail thee’ as the “latest national anthem.” Tinubu emphasized the anthem’s representation of Nigeria’s diversity and unity.
He urged both the Senate and the House of Representatives to maintain collaboration with the administration to foster sustained progress and development in the country. “We have no other choice; it is our nation,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of domestic efforts in nation-building.
Tinubu had previously assented to the N28.7 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill on January 1, 2024. This budget exceeded the original proposal by N1.2 trillion, as presented to a joint session of the NASS on November 29, 2023.
