The executive of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) will be chosen today.
Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of the nation, will run for re-election as the party’s leader despite being the subject of serious misconduct allegations related to an unreported theft from his farm. He is competing against Zweli Mkhize, a former health minister who is also accused of wrongdoing. The two guys both reject any wrongdoing.
The new leadership will be chosen by 4,426 ANC delegates. According to sources, Mr. Ramaphosa is expected to retain his position in what is expected to be a close race.
Despite crippling power outages across South Africa, it has been revealed that the conference area has been exempted from power outages. According to ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe, the party did not request any favors.
