Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state released a statement expressing deep concern, stating that “dozens of people were feared killed, and many others are still missing.”

The Emir of Patigi, the region where the incident took place, has confirmed the tragic news, revealing that over 150 individuals have tragically lost their lives.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. He assured the public that rescue operations are ongoing to locate any survivors amidst this devastating event.
Sadly, such accidents are not uncommon in Nigeria. Just recently, in a neighboring state of Sokoto, 14 lives were lost after a similar boat capsizing incident.
