Ugandan police detained a group of women protesting the continued detention of their husbands.
The women, mostly activists, claimed that celebrating International Women’s Day without their partners was pointless.

They were also dissatisfied with the high cost of living.
According to local media, the women were taken to a police station in Kampala, the capital.
Human rights organizations have accused Ugandan authorities of arbitrarily detaining hundreds of government critics.
