Ugandan health officials have allayed fears that a coronavirus is to blame for the country’s current cough and flu outbreak.
Local media reported an increase in the number of people who were bedridden for days or lost their voices as a result of an intense cough, flu, and fever.
Children have failed to respond to medication in a number of cases, prompting some to be admitted to the hospital and placed on oxygen machines, according to the Daily Monitor.

The outbreak was described as “normal flu” by the Department of Infectious Disease Control.
“Our surveillance system shows no increased cases of Covid-19,” said Dr. Patrick Tusiime, the commissioner for communicable disease prevention and control.
Because of the general decline in cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency.
The WHO, on the other hand, warned that many people with severe Covid-19 are still being admitted to hospitals and that countries should continue with their internal disease mitigation measures.
