Governor Adeleke Heads to the U.S. for Davido’s Wedding, Sparks Political Chatter
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is currently in the United States to attend the much-anticipated wedding of his nephew, Nigerian music superstar Davido, and his partner Chioma Rowland.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place this August in Miami, and while the trip is purely family-related, it has stirred up some political noise back home.
The state’s opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised eyebrows over the governor’s absence, questioning whether he informed the public or officially handed over responsibilities to his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi.
In response, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, clarified that Adeleke left Nigeria a few days ago via the family’s private jet and that the trip was strictly personal. Rasheed also noted that since taking office in November 2022, Adeleke has not taken any official vacation.
“Governor Adeleke is away to celebrate with his family as his nephew, David Adeleke, ties the knot. It’s a joyful occasion, and he remains in regular contact with his deputy, who is overseeing state matters,” Rasheed said.
In a light-hearted gesture, the governor also extended an invitation to members of the opposition to join the celebration — either in person or virtually.
