Kwame A Plus and Bulldog have drawn the ire of Frances Essiam, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, for their ongoing criticisms of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
In a widely shared video online, Frances Essiam, the former Managing Director of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited, expressed her disapproval of what she sees as the disrespectful comments made by these entertainment pundits about the President of Ghana. She emphasized that while criticism is acceptable, it should not involve derogatory remarks about the sitting President.
Frances Essiam raised concerns about how the United Showbiz program has transformed into a platform where pundits freely launch verbal attacks on the government and its officials whenever they express their opinions. She pointed out that Kwame A Plus and Bulldog do not share the same level of life achievements as President Akufo-Addo and, as such, they should be more considerate in their comments.
She questioned, “If you [A Plus] want to criticize, why not focus on issues you are passionate about? I can arrange a trip to Israel for you to support Gaza, if that’s what you want. What gives you the right to consistently criticize Akufo-Addo?”
Frances Essiam clarified that the United Showbiz program is intended for entertainment rather than political debates. Therefore, even when discussing creative arts or other topics, she stressed the importance of maintaining a respectful and insult-free discourse. She questioned whether Kwame A Plus and Bulldog were on the same level as President Akufo-Addo and, in a somewhat rhetorical manner, asked if they were his peers.
She concluded by stating, “None of you will ever become President or Vice President. Akufo-Addo is on a different level. A Plus, you claim to be studying law, but your behavior falls far short of what one would expect from a future lawyer.”
Frances Essiam🙄. Smh🙄
