The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has launched an investigation into reports of a patient being abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.
Rumors began circulating on June 13, accompanied by a video allegedly showing a woman wrapped in sheets and left in the bush. Social media users claimed that the woman had been abandoned by an ambulance from the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba.
In response, Director-General Patrick Kuma-Aboagye issued a statement on June 14 confirming that an investigation is underway to verify these claims. The statement assured the public that the investigation will follow established public service protocols and requested patience while the facts are determined. The GHS pledged to take appropriate actions based on the findings.

RE: PATIENT ALLEGEDLY ABANDONED IN A BUSH AT GOMOA OJOBI
The Ghana Health Service has been made aware of reports concerning a patient allegedly left in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region. The patient was reportedly admitted to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba. After her relatives failed to appear, she was transported in the hospital’s ambulance and left in a wheelchair at Ojobi, her purported hometown, where she was later found deceased.
Upon receiving this distressing news, the Service has initiated an investigation to determine the veracity of the story, in line with public service protocols, to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
The Service appeals to the general public for patience and assures that anyone found responsible for this incident will be dealt with in accordance with the Service’s Code of Conduct.
