Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) has so far announced the results of four states at its headquarters in the capital, Abuja.
The winners in each state are as follows:
- Ekiti state – Bola Tinubu wins
- Kwara state – Tinubu wins
- Osun state – Atiku Abubakar wins
- Ondo state – Tinubu wins
During the announcement, however, there were dramatic scenes as the PDP, Action Alliance, and ADC rejected the Ekiti results, claiming overvoting.
We also have preliminary results from other states, including Lagos, Nigeria’s largest state.
According to preliminary results, Peter Obi of the Labour Party has won the state. This is a major setback for Tinubu, who served as the state’s governor from 1999 to 2007.
Preliminary results also show that Abubakar has won in Katsina, the home state of outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari. He is an APC member who supported Tinubu in the election.
Inec is currently on vacation and will return within the hour.
