This week, we saw Mercy Eke, a Nigerian reality TV star, channel popular American rapper Cardi B recreating one of her outfits.
Fashion inspiration can come from a variety of sources, including the designer who creates multiple pieces or individuals who draw inspiration from each other’s styles.
Mercy Eke was bejeweled from head to toe in recreation by Xtrabrides Lagos. It wasn’t our favorite look of the night because it felt too avant-garde for the occasion.

Cardi B wore the dress for an Instagram ad in 2020, but hers was mixed with black. Cardi B appeared to be overjoyed that Nicki Minaj dressed up as her.
Mercy’s photo was reposted on Cardi B’s Instagram story, where she has approximately 163 million followers. Mercy was overjoyed as well, and she said she was going to frame the remark.
