Nollywood actor Femi Branch has come to the defense of his colleague, Desmond Elliot, saying that the good work Elliot does for his constituency often goes unnoticed.
During an interview with Nollywood on Radio, Branch praised Elliot’s dedication to politics, highlighting his consistency and commitment despite facing heavy criticism. He believes that Elliot’s efforts are often overshadowed by his political superiors, making it hard for him to get the credit he deserves.
Branch explained that poor publicity might be one of the reasons why Elliot’s achievements aren’t widely recognized. He shared that while the actor-turned-politician has been consistent in his political journey, his work often gets attributed to those higher up on the political ladder.
“I really want to give credit to Desmond Elliot because he’s been consistent with politics,” Branch said. “The challenge might be poor PR because I know he’s doing a lot in his constituency. It could also be a case of being under someone higher up, so his efforts don’t always get the spotlight.”
Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has faced backlash over the years, especially after his stance on social media regulation in 2020. Despite the controversies, Branch believes that Elliot is genuinely making a difference and deserves more recognition for his hard work.
