Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has taken a daring step by shaving her hair for an upcoming film role. Sharing the experience on her Instagram, Yvonne explained that this transformation was essential to truly capture the essence of her character.
After nurturing her natural hair for a decade, she decided to go bald, expressing that this physical change allows her to connect more deeply with her role, beyond just lines and expressions. She emphasized her commitment to her craft, saying she’s willing to step outside her comfort zone to bring her characters to life.
Along with her new look, Yvonne shared that she’s also learning to speak Yoruba to add authenticity to her portrayal in the film, titled AJA, produced by Titi Orire. Currently filming in Badagry, Nigeria, the project features notable Nollywood talents like Rotimi Fakunle, Bianca Ugowanne, Gbohunmi David, and a special guest appearance that’s sure to thrill fans.
Reflecting on the process, she said, “To tell a story authentically, you have to give your all—even if it means making bold changes. Cutting my hair wasn’t just about appearance; it was about embracing a new dimension of myself for this story. As an actor, I believe in pushing limits, and this role is testing those boundaries.”
Yvonne’s dedication shines through as she explains, “Acting is more than just playing a role; it’s about transforming and becoming the character fully. AJA is a unique journey for me, one I’m embracing wholeheartedly. It’s not just about looking the part, but fully embodying it.”
She concluded with her love for the art, stating that if a role demands it, she’ll do whatever it takes to breathe life into the story—even learning a new language.
