Bimbo Akintola Opens Up on Being Single and the Kind of Love She’s Waiting For
Veteran Nollywood star Bimbo Akintola has shared heartfelt details about why she remains single at 52, revealing that it’s not entirely by choice.
In an intimate interview with Pulse Nigeria, the award-winning actress spoke candidly about her journey, explaining that while she has no children, her views on marriage remain deeply rooted in sincerity, faith, and companionship.
Akintola, whose roots trace to Edo State through her mother and Oyo State through her father, described marriage as a sacred covenant—one to be made in the presence of God and surrounded by genuine love.
She revealed that she once met a man she truly believed she could spend her life with, but tragedy struck when he passed away. Since then, she has not found another partner she feels the same way about.
For her, honesty is non-negotiable. “I can’t live a lie,” she said. “I want everything to be grounded in truth—for myself and for God. I won’t marry someone unless I’m certain I can be with them forever.”
Akintola added that age is not a barrier to love or marriage. “If I meet the right person, even at 78, I’d say yes,” she affirmed. While she believes marriage does not define a woman’s worth, she acknowledged its value, especially later in life when children grow up and move on.
She emphasized that companionship in the later years helps keep loneliness at bay. “Life is better when you have someone to share those moments with,” she said warmly.
Akintola’s openness offers a refreshing reminder that love is worth waiting for—no matter how long it takes.
