Witnessing their sons’ success firsthand, Inaki and Nico’s parents were present in the stands, joining the celebration after the game.
Born to Ghanaian parents, the Williams brothers have taken different paths in international football, with Inaki representing the Black Stars while Nico opts for Spain.
Reflecting on his decision to switch national allegiance, Inaki acknowledged that his stint with the Ghanaian national team hasn’t unfolded as expected. Despite this, he expressed no regrets about choosing to honor his roots and represent his parents’ country.

While his time with Ghana has seen mixed results, with only one goal in 17 international appearances and early exits in major tournaments, Inaki emphasized the personal and sporting growth he has experienced.
In a statement to Club del Deportista, he shared, “I never envisioned this journey. Making that decision to represent my parents’ country and reconnect with my heritage, despite the challenges, has been enriching. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, but it’s contributed significantly to my growth, both on and off the field.”
Despite his ups and downs in international football, Inaki’s club performance remains stellar, with 11 goals and five assists this season, showcasing his undeniable talent and contribution to Athletic Bilbao.
