The Senegal men’s national football team went to the World Cup’s knockout rounds for just the second time in the nation’s history, setting out street celebrations in Dakar, the capital city.
Tuesday night, Senegal defeated Ecuador 2-1 to place second in Group A, just behind the Netherlands.
With the victory, Aliou Cissé’s team qualified for the round of 16 and will play Group B champions England on Sunday (19:00 GMT).
Following the final whistle, throngs of people flocked to Dakar’s streets, many of them were waving the national flag while others cheered on the players.
