Reality TV personality Tacha Akide didn’t hold back in a recent post on 𝕏, where she called out her generation for being too passive when it comes to Nigeria’s future.
In her post, Tacha voiced frustration with young Nigerians, saying many seem more interested in chasing visas, going viral online, and staying comfortable—rather than standing up for real change.
She compared today’s youth to those who came before, pointing out how previous generations were willing to fight, protest, and even put their lives on the line for what they believed in. She referenced how even former president Buhari was part of a coup in his twenties, actively trying to shape the nation.
Tacha’s message was blunt: “We blame older generations, but at least they showed up. What are we doing? Running away. We’re not just failing the next generation—we’re burying it.”
She clarified that she’s not exempt from the criticism either, but noted she’s tried to use her voice to speak up and spark conversations.
“This isn’t about me,” she added. “It’s about how so many of us would rather vibe online than take real action. Comfort over country—every single time.”
Her post has since sparked a lot of reactions, with many agreeing it’s time for more young voices to step up and be heard beyond social media.
