Nigerian media personality Destiny Ezeyim, popularly known as Radiogad, has taken aim at Peter Obi after a video surfaced showing the former Labour Party presidential candidate serving food at a community event.
In the clip, recorded in Umuchima, Imo State, Obi is seen carrying trays, sharing meals, and warmly mingling with guests—his trademark humble demeanor on full display. While many saw it as another example of Obi’s people-first approach, Radiogad wasn’t having it.
In a fiery video rant that quickly made the rounds online, Radiogad slammed the former Anambra State governor’s actions as “eye service,” accusing him of trying too hard to win public sympathy.
“Peter Obi, at this point, it’s getting ridiculous,” Radiogad said. “Carrying trays and serving food like a waiter? For what? Just to prove you’re humble? That’s not leadership—that’s desperation.”
According to him, Nigerians aren’t looking for soft-spoken humility but bold, commanding presence. He pointed to President Bola Tinubu as someone who, despite criticism, exudes the kind of toughness many Nigerians admire.
“Tinubu may not be perfect, but he’s got presence. That’s what people here respond to,” Radiogad continued. “But you, Obi? You’re out here playing caterer. It’s disappointing.”
He didn’t hold back, even going as far as calling Obi unfit for the presidency and accusing him of trying to earn respect through gestures that he believes diminish his stature.
While Obi’s quiet, relatable style has earned him fans across the country, this moment has clearly sparked fresh debate—about leadership, image, and how far is too far when it comes to connecting with the public.
Love him or loathe him, one thing’s certain: Peter Obi knows how to keep the country talking.
