Yul Edochie Mourns Two Cinematographers Lost in Tragic Road Accident
It’s been a heavy weekend for the Nollywood community.
Actor Yul Edochie has joined the wave of grief following the heartbreaking news that two beloved cinematographers, Johnson Onoriode Ododife and Chigo Gozman, lost their lives in a fatal car accident.
According to filmmaker Stanley Ontop, the two were returning from a wedding in Port Harcourt when the crash occurred. Both men were active creatives in the Nigerian film scene—Ododife served as the Delta State chairman of the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN), while Gozman was a skilled content creator and cinematographer based in Asaba.
Stanley shared his sorrow on Instagram, writing:
“It’s a Black Sunday in Nollywood. We lost two crew members in a terrible accident on their way back from a colleague’s wedding. @onos14a and @goz_man6 were passionate and talented souls. My heart is shattered. Rest in peace, my friends. This too shall pass. Shalom.”
Yul Edochie, visibly shaken, also posted a tribute.
“Too many young lives lost in this industry lately. It’s heartbreaking. Rest in peace, brothers. May God strengthen your families through this unimaginable loss.”
It’s a reminder of how fragile life can be—and how deeply the film family feels each absence.
