2Baba’s Legacy Stands Firm Despite Social Media Drama
The camp of Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has dismissed claims that his legacy is being overshadowed by the controversies surrounding his marriage and personal life.
2Baba has remained in the spotlight recently, with conversations online revolving around his split from Annie Idibia and his marriage to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawuru.
But according to Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, Head of Legal and Communication at A Guy Entertainment, no amount of gossip can erase 2Baba’s impact on music and culture.
She explained that while online chatter often thrives on drama, history remembers substance.
“Controversy may spread faster than music today, but 2Baba’s place is untouchable. He is celebrated as one of the greatest of all time in African music. Billboard naming ‘African Queen’ the number one afrobeats song of all time only confirms it. His catalogue and cultural influence speak louder than any temporary distraction,” she said.
Rather than chasing trends, his management is focused on highlighting what makes him unique: his depth, storytelling, and stage presence. Ebubedike-Igbokwe stressed that there is room for both new voices and the legends who paved the way. “Just like Fela and Christy Essien-Igbokwe, 2Baba’s music is timeless. Younger acts should continue to see him as a source of inspiration,” she added.
When asked about his decision to remain silent, she explained that it is deliberate.
“Silence is not weakness. Sometimes it’s the highest form of respect—for truth, for family, and for fans. 2Baba will speak when the time feels right, and when he does, it will be with honesty and humility,” she noted.
With new projects and tours on the way, 2Baba’s team insists his influence remains as strong as ever. He is already etched in history as a defining voice of a generation—one whose legacy can’t be shaken by social media noise.
