Nigerian filmmaker, director, and actor Kayode Peters has passed away. The news was confirmed by his family, who shared that he died peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada, after a prolonged battle with illness.
A statement shared on his official Instagram page described Kayode—fondly known as KP—as a man of courage and heart who fought his health challenges with quiet strength until the very end.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Kayode Peters Adewumi,” the message read. “He faced his health journey with bravery and held on until his final breath this morning.”
Known not just for his creativity but for his warmth and generosity, KP was remembered as more than an artist—he was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. His family spoke of his lasting impact, not only through his work but through the lives he touched along the way.
“He inspired many through his craft, but it was his heart that truly made him unforgettable,” the statement continued. “He will be missed far beyond the screen.”
