Apple has introduced a significant software update for AirPods, introducing enhancements such as hands-free Siri interactions, Voice Isolation, reduced audio latency, and more.
These updates aim to enhance the convenience and versatility of AirPods for users on the move. With the update, interacting with Siri through AirPods becomes more personalized and private. AirPods Pro users can nod to indicate “yes” or gently shake their head for “no” responses to Siri. This feature is particularly useful in situations where speaking aloud may not be suitable, such as in crowded or quiet environments. Using machine learning on the H2 chip, these Siri interactions allow users to manage calls, messages, notifications, and perform tasks without verbal commands.
Since their launch, AirPods have streamlined connectivity. To further improve call quality across all settings, AirPods Pro now include Voice Isolation. This technology, already utilized on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, leverages machine learning on the H2 chip and the paired device to enhance the user’s voice clarity while reducing background noise such as wind.
These new features will be available as a free firmware update this spring for AirPods Pro (2nd generation), enriching the functionality and overall user experience of Apple’s popular wireless earbuds.
