Singer Seyi Shay has shared her thoughts on the value of men in family life, pushing back strongly against the idea that they are not essential.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the music star stressed how important a father figure can be, especially in shaping the life of a girl child.
According to her, women who grew up with present fathers often enjoy more stability, better access to education, and stronger values compared to those who did not. She described the dismissal of men as “a dangerous narrative” that only deepens divisions within homes and leads to more broken families.
In her words:
“Most women who have a father figure in their lives are generally more stable. They had a lot more access to good education and good morals growing up than the ones that don’t. All these narratives of men not being important is bullsh*t because it only creates more divisions in our homes, producing more broken souls and lost females and males.”
Reflecting on her own life, the 39-year-old singer admitted she’s grateful she didn’t have a daughter in her 20s. With maturity and experience now on her side, she believes she’s better prepared to guide a child and help her avoid some of the mistakes she once made in relationships, friendships, and other aspects of life.
