Annie Macaulay Confirms Divorce from 2Baba at the Headies
Annie Macaulay made headlines on Sunday night when she publicly confirmed her split from Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia during the 17th Headies Awards.
While co-presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year, Annie’s subtle but powerful announcement caught the audience’s attention. Introducing herself on stage, she hesitated for a moment before correcting her name.
“Annie Idi… Oh! Sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she joked, sending the crowd into a lively cheer.
Although rumors had been swirling for months, Annie had remained silent until this moment. Back in March, after a brief social media break, she subtly dropped hints by signing off posts with her full birth name — Annie Uwana Macaulay — leaving out any reference to Idibia.
The former couple, who share two children, finalized their divorce in January 2025. Their split had been quietly announced by 2Baba earlier in the year.
Since then, 2Baba has moved on with a new relationship. He recently proposed to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru and introduced her to his family and community in Benue State, fueling talk of a wedding in the near future.
Annie’s confirmation at the Headies marks the first time she has spoken publicly about the end of her marriage — and she did it with grace, confidence, and a touch of humor.
