Liverpool’s head coach Arne Slot and captain Virgil van Dijk have urged supporters to remain calm and united after the club suffered its fourth consecutive Premier League defeat.
The Reds fell 3–2 to Brentford on Saturday, extending a difficult run that has left fans concerned. Once dominant champions, Liverpool now find themselves in a rare slump, having gone four league games without a win.
After the match, Slot admitted that rival teams have effectively adapted to Liverpool’s style of play.
“Opponents have found a good strategy against us, and we haven’t quite figured out the right response yet,” the Dutch coach told Fabrizio Romano. “It’s not an excuse, but playing so many away games has made things tougher.”
Captain Virgil van Dijk, visibly disappointed yet composed, emphasized the importance of accountability and togetherness.
“Everyone, including me, has to take responsibility,” he said. “We’ll turn this around—not by talking, but by working harder. The same fans who celebrated with us last season should stand by us now.”
Liverpool’s recent struggles have raised questions about fatigue and defensive consistency, issues that have contributed to their current sixth-place position on the league table, with 16 points from nine matches.
The Reds will have a chance to bounce back quickly when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday in the EFL Cup fourth round—a match that could help restore their confidence ahead of their next league fixture.
