Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo-Mkambala has spoken out after receiving online backlash for wearing the same pair of shoes from her wedding day to a recent event.
The 24-year-old daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo took to Snapchat to share her thoughts, reminding young women not to let social media pressure control their choices or lifestyles.
Priscilla expressed concern over how many girls feel forced to live beyond their means just to keep up appearances online. She explained that she’s perfectly comfortable rewearing her designer shoes and doesn’t feel the need to impress anyone.
“Some girls in my generation live in a fantasy. They think I shouldn’t wear my Jimmy Choo again just because I have a bigger fanbase now,” she wrote. “That mindset is exactly why so many feel pressured to act like ‘big girls’ when they can’t afford it. My life will always go the way I want it to. As long as my family, friends, and genuine fans are happy, every other opinion is just noise.”
Priscilla, who tied the knot with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux earlier this year in a private ceremony, made it clear that her peace of mind and the happiness of her loved ones mean far more to her than social media approval.
