Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has reportedly agreed to an improved contract with the club, rewarding his outstanding performances since becoming Mikel Arteta’s first-choice between the posts.
Raya, who made his loan move from Brentford permanent in the summer of 2024, has signed fresh terms that include a significant pay rise from his previous £100,000-a-week deal. Although Arsenal has not yet made an official announcement, BBC Sport reports that the agreement was completed earlier this summer.
The updated contract doesn’t extend Raya’s current deal, which runs until 2028, but includes an option for additional years — a gesture seen as recognition of his consistent excellence and leadership in goal.
Since joining Arsenal, Raya has firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers. He claimed the Golden Glove in his first season and retained the title last year, sharing the honour with Nottingham Forest’s Mats Sels after another season of impressive clean sheets.
Behind the scenes, Arsenal continues to secure the future of its key players. William Saliba recently signed a new five-year deal, while Gabriel Magalhaes extended his stay until 2029. Negotiations are also underway for a long-term extension for Jurrien Timber, and optimism remains high that Bukayo Saka will soon finalise his new contract as well.
With Raya’s renewed commitment and other key players locked in, Arsenal’s vision of building a strong, stable core for sustained success under Arteta looks stronger than ever.
