ASAP Rocky Teases ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ Release, Compares Himself to Rihanna and Frank Ocean
ASAP Rocky isn’t rushing greatness—just ask Rihanna. The Harlem rapper, who has kept fans waiting for years, recently spoke about his long-delayed album, Don’t Be Dumb, and compared himself to artists known for taking their time to craft timeless music.
In an interview with GQ, Rocky grouped himself with Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill, and D’Angelo, saying they don’t release music just to stay relevant. “Fans are starving, but artists like us don’t put out music just for the sake of it,” he explained. “We focus on making something that lasts.”
His upcoming album has faced multiple delays, with one of the biggest setbacks being his legal battle over gun assault charges. However, Rocky now insists the wait is nearly over. “I’m tired of saying the plate is almost ready. It’s hot, y’all!” he teased.
When Will Don’t Be Dumb Drop?
While Rocky didn’t reveal an exact date, speculation is high. With his Rolling Loud California performance in mid-March, there’s a chance for another pre-release single like HIGHJACK or Ruby Rosary.
Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif previously hinted that the album would arrive before the festival, though time is running out. Whether it drops soon or later, fans are hoping Rocky delivers—and maybe Rihanna and Frank Ocean will follow.
