Fenerbahçe Takes Legal Action Against Galatasaray Over Mourinho Controversy
Fenerbahçe has filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray, accusing their rivals of damaging the reputation of their head coach, Jose Mourinho. The dispute stems from a heated match that ended in a goalless draw, with Galatasaray later alleging that Mourinho made offensive remarks towards their bench.
The controversy erupted after claims that Mourinho’s comments were racially insensitive, an accusation Fenerbahçe firmly denies. The club insists that his words were taken out of context and misrepresented to push a specific narrative.
In response, Fenerbahçe has taken legal steps, demanding nearly 2 million Turkish lira (approximately $52,000) in damages. The club issued a statement stressing their commitment to protecting Mourinho’s integrity, declaring that the lawsuit was officially filed against Galatasaray.
Mourinho, who joined Fenerbahçe from AS Roma, has already faced disciplinary actions this season for previous disputes with match officials. Despite his fiery approach, the club stands firmly behind him in this latest battle, determined to challenge what they call an attack on his personal rights.
