Bruno Fernandes isn’t ready to trade Europe’s big nights for Saudi riches—at least, not yet.
The Manchester United captain has reportedly turned down a massive offer from Saudi club Al Hilal, choosing to stay put and continue chasing glory in Europe’s top competitions.
Despite Al Hilal’s persistent pursuit—including an offer said to be packed with eye-watering incentives—Fernandes made it clear he’s not ready to walk away from the level of competition he’s grown used to since joining United in 2020. His heart, for now, remains at Old Trafford.
Al Hilal had hoped to bring him in ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, but their approach was flatly rejected. Bruno’s eyes are on the summer ahead, where he’s expected to play a key role in Manchester United’s next phase under new leadership.
Interestingly, the Saudi club’s failed bid may have stirred up a ripple effect. With Fernandes staying put, reports suggest Al Hilal are now setting their sights on Atalanta’s Ederson—a player who also happens to be on United’s radar.
The midfielder’s growing popularity could set off a competitive transfer chase, especially with Manchester City also keeping an eye on the Brazilian, who’s believed to be valued around £50 million.
Meanwhile, United are already making moves. A deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is done, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is said to be close to sealing a switch too. Once those pieces are in place—and after a few exits—the focus will likely shift back to midfield reinforcements, where Ederson remains a key target.
So while Bruno’s staying put, the midfield merry-go-round is just getting started.
