Peter Okoye, known to many as Mr P and one-half of the once-popular duo Psquare, has revealed that going solo wasn’t just a creative move—it was a financial upgrade.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Peter made it clear that life after Psquare has been more profitable for him than when he had to split earnings three ways—with his twin brother Paul and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
“Today, as a solo artist, I earn more than I did with Psquare,” he wrote. “From performances to brand endorsements, everything’s more rewarding now that I’m not dividing my income with people who betrayed me and disrespected my efforts.”
Peter didn’t hold back, noting that stepping away from the group also brought him peace of mind. “I used to be the one trying to keep the peace, playing the bigger person. Not anymore,” he added.
JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE OLDER, DOESN’T MEAN YOU DESERVE RESPECT. RESPECT IS EARNED NOT GIVEN.
Calling me broke or wishing I was broke has been your wish. These are the exact same words you told the EFCC officials. And you ended up getting locked up in prison. Of course, you have to… pic.twitter.com/qKpNCL6jun— Mr Psquare (@PeterPsquare) June 30, 2025
He went further, accusing Jude of speaking against him to the EFCC—allegations Peter suggests contributed to Jude’s recent legal troubles. “Those same words you whispered to EFCC agents? They backfired. You ended up in custody,” he wrote.
Peter also hinted that the family feud is far from over, suggesting that the core issue—alleged financial misconduct—still hasn’t been addressed. “We’re in court. And no one’s answered the real question: Did you steal, or didn’t you?”
The message was a direct response to a statement Jude posted on Instagram just days earlier. In it, Jude accused Peter and other former collaborators, including singer Cynthia Morgan, of betrayal. He claimed they turned on him after achieving fame through his platform.
“They were doing great when I was managing them. Then they got greedy, left, and things went south. Now they blame me instead of owning their mistakes,” Jude wrote.
He denied any wrongdoing and challenged his critics to point out what exactly he did wrong. According to him, accusations of fraud and money laundering were fabricated in an attempt to put him behind bars.

“But I endured two months in custody and I’m still standing,” he added.
This renewed tension follows Cynthia Morgan’s earlier claims that Peter once distanced himself from her when she was struggling, despite publicly supporting her online. She says she later discovered that his support was more about settling personal scores with Jude than genuine concern for her.
Meanwhile, the family drama is unfolding alongside a legal battle between Jude and the EFCC. In February 2025, the anti-graft agency charged Jude and his label, Northside Music Ltd, with multiple counts of money laundering.
According to court documents, Jude allegedly diverted over $1 million in royalties from Psquare’s catalogue—funds paid by companies like Lex Records, Kobalt Music, and Mtech Limited. Prosecutors claim the money was used to purchase luxury property in Ikoyi and was laundered through multiple accounts using a Bureau De Change.
Jude has denied all charges and pleaded not guilty.
The internal rift within the Okoye family resurfaced in August 2024, when Paul Okoye—also known as Rudeboy—confirmed that Psquare had officially disbanded for good. Though the brothers reunited briefly in 2021, they’ve since parted ways once again, with no signs of reconciliation.
What was once one of Africa’s biggest musical powerhouses is now a family divided—by money, by mistrust, and by the very fame that brought them together.
