Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are currently enjoying their Easter break from school – and here we take a look at what mum Kate Middleton might be doing to keep them occupied away from class.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been noticeably absent from royal duties in the last week, and it’s all because of their children.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are all on Easter break from Lambrook School, which means Prince William and Kate are spending quality time with them.
It’s unclear where the family of five has been spending their time over the last week, but it hasn’t been Adelaide Cottage, their new Windsor home, which means there hasn’t been a chance to meet Prince Harry, who was recently on a surprise visit to the UK.
They may have decided to travel abroad after spending part of their Easter vacation in France last year. Or they could have simply gone on a private retreat to Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
But, wherever they are, Kate appears to know exactly how to keep her kids entertained – without relying too heavily on screen time…
Creative activities
But it’s not all sports and outdoor activities for Kate and the kids; it appears they also enjoy being creative.
The princess has frequently mentioned baking with the children, which they did in preparation for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year.
They were photographed stirring cake batter and decorating cupcakes before serving them at a street party in Cardiff.
Meanwhile, it has previously been reported that Kate and the kids enjoy going to a pottery painting attraction near Anmer Hall in King’s Lynn.
One other customer at the shop, where children can paint mugs and bowls, revealed on Instagram: “I had a great time painting pottery this afternoon! On Saturday, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Charlotte, and Louis were also present!”
Time in the great outdoors
One thing is certain: William, Kate, and their children enjoy nothing more than spending time outside in nature.
Katie Nicholl, a royal expert, once told OK! : “Kate is curious about how outdoor learning can benefit children. She got to meet kids who had lessons outside and ask them how they liked it. She had firsthand experience with the advantages.
“Kate is aware of screen time and attempts to limit the children’s exposure to it. She takes the kids outside when they have a break, rain or shine.
“She wants them to get some fresh air and be outside.” She enjoys picking vegetables in the gardens with them. She and William try to incorporate what they’re learning about rivers or the sea into their walks.”
To commemorate William and Kate’s tenth wedding anniversary in 2021, the couple shared a family video that showed fans a glimpse of their outdoor lifestyle.
It showed them hiking in dunes, chasing each other in the garden, Charlotte and Louis spinning on a fantastic see-saw, and the family toasting marshmallows around a fire.
Meanwhile, a new Mother’s Day photo released last month showed Kate and her three children climbing a tree.
Plenty of sports
Kate is known for her athletic personality, so it’s no surprise that George, Charlotte, and Louis enjoy participating in sports as well.
Rugby is one sport that appears to have piqued George and Louis’ interest.
Kate is a patron of the English Rugby Football Union and has previously spoken about playing the game with her sons.
During a reception for the England Wheelchair Rugby League squad in January, she revealed that Louis is “rugby mad.”
When asked if her children participate in the sport, the mother-of-three replied, “We’re always slightly competitive with each other.” They all enjoy sports, and Louis is particularly fond of rugby.
“They’re at an age where they just want to run around.”
She also revealed that she stays fit by jumping on the trampoline with her children before school, telling one of the players who asked if she went to the gym, “It’s running around after the children – I do it all, whenever I can squeeze in exercise, even jumping on the trampoline with my children before school.”
Meanwhile, Kate once revealed that she had played rugby with her oldest son, George, at an England v Wales match last year.
Kate revealed that George is learning to play the sport at school and that “he has all the equipment.”
After telling his mother that he’s been learning to tackle, he turned to his mother and joked, “But I haven’t tackled you yet!”
“Yes, you have!” Kate exclaimed, laughing.
Caring for Animals
Spending time with animals, particularly the family dog, Orla the black spaniel goes hand in hand with spending time outside.
According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, if the Waleses have been spending time at Anmer Hall, this is exactly what they will have been doing.
“It’s the children’s half-term and a rare opportunity for them all to be together in their Norfolk home,” she told the Mirror.
“They saved Anmer Hall for such occasions.” The children have their ponies and pets with them, and they are free to enjoy themselves on the King’s Norfolk estate.”
