When it comes to Prince Harry attending King Charles III’s coronation, the Royal Family still has mixed feelings. The palace confirmed last week that the Duke of Sussex would attend the historic event, though his wife, Meghan Markle, will be at home in California celebrating the birthday of their son, Arichie.
According to a source, members of the royal family are still thinking about it.
“Relationships between Harry and Meghan and the family are still very tense,” a source claims.
“The family will be cordial because the King wants his son to attend his Coronation, but there will be no meaningful conversation because there is still a lack of trust as a result of the revelations in his book, the Sussexes Netflix documentary, and the allegations in the Oprah interview.”
According to another source, the family is still surprised that the Duke is attending without his wife.
“There were still several members of the family who expressed surprise she had decided to stay home,” she continues.
Prince Harry will attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6, according to Buckingham Palace. Meghan, on the other hand, is said to be staying at the couple’s Montecito, California, home with their two children, son Archie, who will be four on the day of the coronation, and daughter Lilibet, who will be one.
Following the news, royal expert Eloise Parker stated that Prince William and Kate Middleton feel “relief” that Meghan will be returning home.
“I think there’s bound to be some relief from William and Kate that Meghan won’t be attending the coronation simply because there’s going to be less emphasis on them, who’s looking where, who’s lip reading, what’s going on between them,” Parker told.
“There’s such a frenzy of interest in these relationships, and the truth is that we’ll never see a Real Housewives moment between these women.” Everything will be kept under wraps, and I believe Kate will benefit from Meghan’s absence by keeping it that way.”
Since Harry and Meghan officially stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020, there has been palpable tension. The tension peaked with the December release of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and the January release of the Duke of Sussex’s bestselling memoir, Spare. Both projects were critical of the royal family and revealed personal information about the couple.
According to ET, the monarch was willing to set aside the tension and wanted his secondborn to be a part of his big day in March.
“Despite any issues or difficulties that have arisen as a result of what has been revealed in Harry’s book, Charles loves his son.” “He wants both of his children to be there for such a special occasion,” the source said.
“The King’s family wants him to be happy, and having his son travel from America for such a pivotal moment in his life will make Charles happy.”
