Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has voiced her frustration after discovering a fake Facebook account using her name and photos to mislead people.
In a recent Instagram video, the actress exposed the impersonator, revealing that the fake page — which has gained over 2.7 million followers — has been spreading false stories in her name.
Iyabo explained that many fans have mistaken the page for her real account, unaware that someone else is profiting off her image and reputation. She shared that despite reporting the account to Facebook, the person behind it quickly changed the name to “Iyabo Ojo Lovers” to make it appear like a fan page.
According to her, she decided to open her own Facebook account just to call out fake pages pretending to be her. She noted that the impersonator copies content from her verified page and reposts it, misleading people into thinking it’s her work.
Calling the act deceitful, Iyabo warned the person to remove her name and pictures immediately, adding that she won’t hesitate to take serious action if it continues.
The actress also raised concerns about the growing problem of impersonation on social media, saying that many fake accounts on Facebook and TikTok use her identity to confuse the public. She revealed that fans constantly message her about posts she never made, which damages her credibility.
In her words:
“To whoever is using my name and photos on Facebook — take them down. That page with 2.7 million followers is not mine. I’ve reported it before, and it was changed to Iyabo Ojo Lovers to look like a fan page. This is not my page, and I don’t know who owns it.
“You’ve used my name to gather followers and post fake stories. If you want to blog, do it with your own name. Stop using mine. The next time you look for that page, it will be gone.”
Iyabo concluded by urging the impersonator — and others involved in similar acts — to stop misusing people’s identities for personal gain, warning that she’s ready to take stronger action to protect her name.
