Seyi Shay Opens Up About Making Peace with Tiwa Savage
Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has revealed she’s open to reconciling with fellow artist Tiwa Savage after years of tension between them.
In a recent interview with Saturday Punch, the Right Now crooner addressed their long-standing fallout and Tiwa’s recent comments about it. Seyi explained that the situation, which many linked to a Pepsi campaign years ago, wasn’t personal — it was simply a brand decision.
She made it clear that she has never taken joy in another woman’s struggles and continues to hold deep respect for Tiwa’s career and contributions to the music industry.
Reflecting on their past misunderstanding, Seyi admitted that both of them were under pressure at the time, navigating a highly competitive industry. Looking back, she believes better communication could have prevented the clash.
“If I could go back, I’d choose conversation over confrontation,” she said. “Life is too short to hold on to tension. I’d be open to sitting down with Tiwa — whether in private or public — if it helps clear the air and set a positive example for women in music.”
She added that her goal is to promote unity and growth among women in the industry, emphasizing that there’s no bad blood on her side.
Seyi described Tiwa as “an incredible artist and a trailblazer,” acknowledging her impact on the Nigerian music scene.
The rift between the two singers dates back to 2021, when a video of their heated exchange at a Lagos salon went viral. But now, Seyi says she’s ready to move forward — choosing peace, maturity, and sisterhood over old grudges.
