May Edochie has shared a glimpse into the personal and financial challenges she faced following the collapse of her marriage to actor Yul Edochie.
While speaking at the launch of her beauty brand in London, the mother of three opened up about how life took an unexpected turn. She revealed that not only did her marriage fall apart, but all her businesses also crumbled around the same time—leaving her under immense financial strain.
According to May, she was deep in debt, with outstanding loans from three banks. The pressure mounted as she watched her businesses fold, with goods expiring on the shelves and no income to rely on.
“It all came crashing down at once,” she said. “I had three bank loans hanging over my head. The banks had been supportive, but I was overwhelmed. While people saw only what was online, I was dealing with a reality that was far more difficult.”
Despite everything, she made a firm decision: she would not rely on anyone to pick up the pieces for her.
“I knew I couldn’t give up,” she added. “Everything was gone—my stores, my stock, my income. But I held on. I reminded myself of who I am and what I’m capable of. That strength became my fuel.”
May’s story comes in the wake of Yul Edochie’s public confirmation of his marriage to actress Judy Austin in 2022, a move that drew widespread attention and reportedly contributed to tensions in his relationship with May.
Her journey stands as a powerful reminder of resilience—choosing to rise, even when everything seems lost.
