Darey Art Alade and his wife, Deola, are counting their blessings after walking away from a terrifying incident on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge.
On Saturday, Deola took to Instagram to share the ordeal, revealing that their car went up in flames the day before. The incident happened around 4 p.m., and by the time it was over, the vehicle was completely destroyed.
Despite the loss, their hearts are full of gratitude.
“Things like this shake you,” she wrote. “One minute everything’s fine, the next you’re reminded how fragile life is—and how little material things really mean when it comes down to it.”
The couple’s driver managed to escape the blaze unharmed, and for Deola and Darey, that’s all that truly matters.
“This isn’t about looking for pity,” she explained. “It’s about perspective. What we lost can be replaced—but life? That’s priceless.”
In her message, Deola also offered a quiet word of encouragement for anyone going through sudden loss or hardship.
“If you’re in a tough season, just know—you’re not alone. We start again. We breathe. We pray. We take it one step at a time. And we give thanks, even now.”
She ended with heartfelt thanks to those who stopped to help during the frightening moment.
