Nigerian music duo Peter and Paul Okoye, famously known as Psquare, are reportedly entangled in another feud just two years after reconciling and delighting fans with their global tours.
According to Naija News, the latest rift centers around financial disputes involving their brother and music executive, Jude Okoye. Nigerian celebrity journalist Stella Dimokokorkus shared on Instagram that the twin brothers are clashing over joint funds allegedly diverted by Jude.
The drama began when a company expressed interest in purchasing Psquare’s music catalogue. However, the deal required a detailed account of the royalties received over the years. This condition led to the discovery of unsettling financial discrepancies.
Stella revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) got involved, and Jude was detained before being bailed out by former Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick. The allegations suggest that Paul Okoye was also complicit, allegedly sharing royalties with Jude while excluding Peter.
Stella’s post detailed the unraveling situation: “The music duo Psquare is at war again, and this time, it looks more serious than their previous split. Insiders allege the conflict began when Peter was approached by a company wanting to buy Psquare’s music catalogue. They required a back-end statement of account of royalties received over the years to determine a price for the catalogue.”
She continued, “Peter approached Jude and Paul with the proposal, but after weeks of waiting for the account statement, Peter realized something was wrong and started investigating. Northside Entertainment, registered by Peter and Paul, had Jude as the sole signatory. It was discovered that funds from Northside Music’s account were being diverted to a new company called Northside Music, registered under Jude’s wife, Ifeoma.”
The money in question involves royalties from 2007 to the present, amounting to millions of dollars. Insiders claim the EFCC has frozen all of Jude’s accounts, both in Nigeria and internationally. Paul, in supporting Jude, implicated himself as an accomplice who shared the diverted funds, leaving Peter out of the loop.
The post also mentioned a heated confrontation at the EFCC office on June 6, 2024, with the brothers accusing each other. Jude was detained by the EFCC until Pinnick signed his bail bond, allowing him to celebrate his birthday with his family.
This unfolding saga marks another turbulent chapter in the Psquare saga, with fans and insiders alike watching closely to see how it will resolve.
