The Evolution of Nike’s Air Max Sunder
Originally launched in 1999 as the Air Sunder Max, the Air Max Sunder was initially crafted for cross-training but quickly gained popularity as a lifestyle staple, thanks to its comfort and futuristic Y2K design. Fast forward to 2024, after a collaboration with Comme des Garçons (CDG) in 2022, Nike is set to release several new colorways, including the highly anticipated Canyon Gold edition.
Design and Features
The Nike Air Max Sunder showcases a neoprene upper with a distinctive zippered shroud. It incorporates visible Air bubbles in the forefoot and heel, providing exceptional impact protection and cushioning. The zippered shroud can be opened to reveal the digits ‘6453’, a clever reference to Nike’s global office numbers, which spell out N-I-K-E on a keypad.
