Former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mark Jacobs, has criticized Samuel Anyanwu’s response to the Board of Trustees’ (BoT) recent decision.
Following a meeting in Abuja, the BoT, led by Adolphus Wabara, advised the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately swear in Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary.
However, Senator Anyanwu dismissed the BoT’s recommendation, arguing that he could not be removed since he had already appealed to the Supreme Court.
In an interview with Channels TV, Jacobs argued that Anyanwu’s stance was legally flawed.
“I feel for him (Samuel Anyanwu) because he is not a lawyer and is relying on a misinterpretation of the law. It is well-established in several Supreme Court rulings that filing an appeal does not automatically halt a decision, especially in declaratory judgments. If his legal team has not informed him of this, they are doing him a disservice,” Jacobs stated.
The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Kaduna State praised the Wabara-led BoT for taking a firm stand against practices that undermine the party’s integrity.
“The BoT is standing for common sense, decency, and the rule of law. When party officials or members act with excessive arrogance and dismiss key party structures, it is a clear display of impunity,” he remarked.
