The Lagos State Police have confirmed the recovery of a stun gun from Pastor Paul Adefarasin, leader of House on the Rock Church, after he showed up voluntarily for questioning regarding a recent roadside incident that caught public attention.
A viral video had circulated showing Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a weapon during a heated exchange with another motorist in Lagos. The footage sparked debate and concern, prompting calls for clarification.
On Tuesday, June 17, the pastor appeared at the State Command headquarters in Ikeja. According to Police PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, he was interviewed by detectives and granted bail while investigations continue.
“Pastor Adefarasin came in today over the viral clip. He gave a statement and cooperated fully with our investigators,” Hundeyin noted via an official post on the police’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
The item seen in the video, which many mistook for a gun, turned out to be a stun gun—a non-lethal device restricted under Nigerian law. Hundeyin emphasized that although it is not a firearm, it remains classified as prohibited security equipment in the country.
Authorities say inquiries are still ongoing to determine the full context of the incident.
So far, neither Adefarasin nor his team has issued a public response. The episode has stirred conversation around the role of public figures in maintaining calm and the legal limits surrounding the possession of defensive tools in everyday settings.
