Tinubu Swears in NASC Chairman, Members, and New Permanent Secretaries
President Bola Tinubu kicked off the week by overseeing a significant session at the State House, where he formally swore in top federal appointees just before the Federal Executive Council meeting.
At the ceremony, held in the Council Chambers, Tinubu administered the oath of office to Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, who now takes the helm as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC). Enyiekere, an expert in environmental policy and former deputy chief of staff in the Senate, steps into a five-year term — renewable upon completion.
Also sworn in were twelve NASC members drawn from all six geopolitical zones, including:
-
Northwest: Suleiman Hunkuyi, Yusuf Tabuka
-
Northeast: Aminu Malle, Lawan Mahmud
-
Northcentral: Mark Tersoo, Salihu Balogun
-
Southwest: Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, Afeez Ipeza-Balogun
-
Southeast: Dr. Nnanna Kalu, Festus Odii
-
South-South: Patrick Giwa, Mary Ekpenyong
In addition to the NASC appointments, two permanent secretaries were officially welcomed into the Federal Civil Service: Dr. Mukthar Malam Madori and Rafiu Adelana.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
