Serwaa Amihere Apologizes to Action Worship Center for Dress Style Comment
Serwaa Amihere has issued a sincere apology to the Action Worship Center after her recent comments about their choristers’ dress style. The Ghanaian TV presenter publicly called out the church’s choristers, accusing them of wearing uniforms that resembled a design she was selling. She expressed her displeasure, saying, “This is my intellectual property, Action Chapel Church. Your choristers stole my design. Something that I am selling. That is wickedness. Pure wickedness,” as she shared a photo of the choristers in their uniform dresses.
However, Serwaa has now taken a more conciliatory tone, realizing her comments may have been too hasty. She issued an unqualified apology to the Action Worship Center, showing that she’s willing to make amends.
Shortly after her initial statements, Serwaa Amihere faced criticism when photos emerged suggesting that her clothing brand was not the original creator of the style. Realizing the misstep, she promptly removed her post and extended an apology to the church. In her apology statement released on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Serwaa Amihere expressed regret for any embarrassment caused to the Action Worship Center. She emphasized her brand’s dedication to providing high-quality women’s office clothing and accessories on a global scale.
“We extend our sincere apologies to the Action Worship Center for any distress caused by our claims. We want to reassure our customers of our strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of our brand. Our recent oversight in claiming the IP rights to the Celine dress has prompted us to review and enhance our internal procedures for protecting intellectual property. As part of our commitment to respecting IP rights, we are officially retracting the Celine dress from our collection.”
This statement underscores Serwaa Amihere’s acknowledgment of the need for improved IP assurance measures within her brand and her determination to rectify any lapses.
