The 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was a dazzling tribute to the heartbeat of African cinema—Nollywood. The spotlight shone brightly on Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors, which made waves by clinching two major wins: Best Lead Actor for Femi himself and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka. Although Chioma wasn’t at the ceremony, she shared her excitement online, visibly overwhelmed in a heartfelt video filled with surprise and joy.
The night wasn’t just about this year’s successes—it also paid respect to the trailblazers who laid the foundation. Legendary actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their decades of dedication and impact. Director Kayode Kasum took home the Trailblazer Award, recognized for breaking boundaries and pushing creative limits in storytelling.
A touching moment came when Abdullateef Adedimeji and his wife, Mo’ Bimpe, stepped on stage together to accept the award for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) for Lisabi: The Uprising. With humility and heartfelt gratitude, they credited their cast and crew, highlighting the passion and teamwork behind the powerful project.
Other notable names that lit up the winners’ circle include makeup genius Hakeem Onilogbo, beloved actress Mercy Aigbe, rising star Blessing Uzzi, and acclaimed video director Clarence Peters—each leaving their mark on the night.
