On Friday, the Supreme Court officially upheld Bala Mohammed’s position as the Governor of Bauchi State.
Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, delivering the key decision, dismissed Sadique Abubakar’s appeal, citing its lack of merit.
This affirmation comes after the Court of Appeal had previously upheld Governor Mohammed’s victory in the governorship election held on March 18.
Sadique Abubakar, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), had lodged the appeal following the election petition tribunal’s validation of Governor Mohammed’s election.
Among the appellant’s arguments was a plea for the nullification of the election, alleging improper filling of forms and booklets used in the process.
However, the appeal court determined that the appellant failed to substantiate this claim with the necessary evidence.
