Jadon Sancho’s chapter at Chelsea appears to be closing—not because of performance issues, but due to complications off the pitch.
Despite showing promise during his loan spell, the English winger will return to Manchester United when his current deal ends on June 30. The reason? A breakdown in talks over salary expectations.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano shared that Chelsea were keen on keeping Sancho but couldn’t meet the high wages he earns at United. After several attempts to negotiate a more manageable figure, the club decided to step away from the deal.
Sancho, 25, had a solid run at Stamford Bridge—racking up 41 appearances, five goals, and ten assists. His performances were enough to make Chelsea consider a permanent move, especially with a £25 million option included in his loan agreement. But in the end, the wage issue proved too steep a hurdle.
Romano also mentioned that Sancho isn’t looking to return to Manchester United for the long haul. With his future at Old Trafford looking uncertain, the forward may be eyeing a fresh start elsewhere this summer.
Interestingly, reports had earlier hinted that Chelsea even weighed up paying £5 million to end his loan early—but ultimately chose to let the arrangement run its course.
Now, with his next move up in the air, all eyes are on what’s next for the talented winger.
